Collaboration is the core of the internet’s value generation. However, currently it’s controlled by a few tech organizations. Every time we use their platforms to chat, exchange files, gather information, process data or use other forms of collaboration, we have to trust them to respect and protect our privacy.
Why share data with others than the intended group of users? Why not simply cut the middle man? There is currently no valid alternative to the platforms mentioned above.
We lay the technological foundation for secure, decentralized collaboration and enable others to build upon this foundation.
All data can be stored locally. Different devices form a 'local' collaboration space: CO. Data is only shared with the participants of the CO.
Without the need for centrally controlled servers, peers generate a decentralized physical infrastructure, organized in COs. Every activity among the peers of a CO remains direct and 100% secure and private.
No one should ever own the technological foundation of the eCO-system. It's open-source. We see it as a public-good. A decentralized autonomous organization (DAO) guarantees that the users decide how the eCO-system develops.
By developing a common technological foundation for data and information exchange between all applications and platforms, interoperability is by design. To enable rapid development of new tools and applications developers use COkit – a compact and comprehensible software development kit (SDK).
Access to and participation in the eCO-system should be as simple and barrier-free as possible for all interested parties. Everyone shall be able to promote and develop their own ideas, and everyone shall be able to generate value from using the functions of the eCO-system.
